Ilford WashAid is a specially formulated hypo‑eliminator (washing aid) designed to significantly speed up the washing process after fixation, reducing the amount of time and water needed while improving archival quality. It works by aiding the efficient removal of thiosulfate residuals via ion exchange. Especially useful if a hardening fixer has been used, WashAid is effective for both black & white films and fibre‑base photographic papers.
The product is supplied as a liquid concentrate and should be diluted 1 + 4 with water (one part WashAid to four parts water). When diluted, the working solution can be used for washing film and prints to save water and time without compromising archival stability.
